While Protecta Technology’s CobraStream sprayed under ordinary conditions causes no permanent injury, it must be remembered that the CobraStream"is an aerosol and requires force to propel the agent at high pressure of which out of necessity could damage soft tissue of the human body.
This liquid material can cause serious injury if it strikes a person directly in the eyes from less than 1m / 3ft.
Therefore, all Cobra StunLights™ using CobraStream must be handled carefully to avoid such striking. It is not necessary to point the OC weapon directly at anyone's eyes in order to obtain proper results. The weapon should be pointed at other areas of the head, such as the chin and mouth in actual use.
Accidental Discharge
All Cobra StunLights™ should be carried with the trigger safety cover in place. The hand or fingers should never be over or cover the discharge tube under any circumstances. The Cobra StunLight™, when loaded, should never be left where children or personnel not trained in the Cobra StunLight™ operations have access to it.
Reminder:
Never directly aim a high pressure stream of liquid at a suspect’s eyes when less than 1m / 3ft from the suspect.
Keep out of the reach of children or personnel not trained in the Cobra StunLight™ operations.
Always carry the Cobra StunLight™ with the trigger safety in the closed position.
In the event of an accidental discharge or spray the following is a list of first aid procedures that should be followed:
Avoid panic:
Do not rub the face. This will aggravate the pain already being experienced.
The best immediate treatment is to expose the person to fresh air, a breeze if possible. A fan can also be used.
Flush the affected area with cool clean water either from the tap or a garden hose.
Clean the affected area with copious amount of water to remove OC resin.
Do not use salves or greases on exposed area because it will trap OC resin onto the skin.
If eyes are exposed, flush copiously with cool, clean fresh water for 15 minutes.
If you wear contact lenses, remove them carefully once hands are thoroughly clean.
An ophthalmic examination should be performed by a physician if irritation or pain persists after 15-20 minutes of flushing with water.
Clothing which is contaminated with OC should be removed immediately and, if indoors, placed in a sealed plastic bag or container.
Persons assisting the subject should wear rubber gloves to avoid residual contamination.
If any irritation or pain persists after decontamination procedures, a physician should examine the exposed area.
Disposal of CobraStream products must be done in accordance with all local laws. CobraStream is composed of materials that are not harmful to the environment. CobraStream can be disposed of like other trash items with the exception of the contents when under pressure. Relieve the pressure before disposing of the product by spraying into a drain or onto the ground. Always remain upwind from the discharge of the canister contents.
